An energy efficient regenerative air blower
creates a flow of low pressure air that enters submerged diffusers at the base of each
AQUACUBE. The air is uniformly diffused up through the high surface area substrate,
creating a large flow of air and water. As the air/water mixture exits the top of the
AQUACUBE in a continuous outward flow, the following physical, chemical and biological
processes are completed:
AERATION - A unique, energy efficient method increases
bubble surface area of contact while prolonging diffusion time. A large volume of
continuously oxygenated water spreads away from each AQUACUBE providing an extensive zone
of aerated water.
BIOFILTRATION - The high surface area substrate creates
an optimal aerobic environment for the colonization of naturally occurring species of
beneficial bacteria. As water passes over these bacteria, they metabolize a broad spectrum
of dissolved organic compounds present in the body of water. After approximately one month
of operation to establish the initial colonization, the AQUACUBE becomes a living entity.
The AQUACUBE then self-adapts to any changes in the composition of the nutrients present
through natural selection.
CIRCULATION - Energy efficient flow rates in excess of
400 GPM per surface square foot of AQUACUBE produce flow rates on the order of 150 times
the energy efficiency of water pumps. A 1/2 HP AQUACUBE system can continuously circulate
over 4,000 gallons per minute of aerated, biofiltered, degassed water, even at very
shallow depths.
DEGASSING - Efficient
stripping of dissolved gases such as carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide is accomplished
by the strong upward flow of the air/water mixture through the angular substrate that
releases dissolved gas into the atmosphere.
FOAM FRACTIONATION - In a
floating mode, the bubbles that continually form and burst in the float ring remove
proteins and other biologically active molecules from solution.
SELF-CLEANING -
